Wild Animal Suffering
While often forgotten or overlooked when discussing speciesism, wild animals are victims of immense suffering in their lives. Non-human animals are faced with disease, predation, hunger, and natural disasters among other challenges.
Humans (including non-human animal advocates) may believe the problem of wild animal suffering is not worth addressing or not our responsibility because we do not necessarily cause it. This belief often comes from a place of speciesism, as we have different standards for humans suffering from disease or hunger even if we are not directly responsible for their suffering.
We highly recommend non-human animal advocates familiarize themselves with the situation of non-human animals in the wild in addition to working towards solutions to help them.
